Compact, electric and truly affordable: it is the proposal of MG for his electric MG4. The British brand, now owned by SAIC Motor, has revealed how much the access version of its new model will cost in Spain. And he did it by distancing himself from all his rivals: he will be at least 4,000 euros cheaper than them.
The electric MG4 It will hit the market next fall, but advance reservations are already available. To be part of what they have called priority delivery list, interested parties must make a reservation of 400 euros without obligation: they will recover them if, in the end, they decide not to buy the electric car.
Less than 30,000 euros… not including aid
This figure will be deducted from the final price which, according to the MG website, will be less than 30,000 euros: It includes taxes and transport, but does not include registration fees, pre-delivery fees, or assistance with the purchase of this type of vehicle. Thus, in the best case of the Plan Moves (subsidy of 7,000 euros) we could speak of less than 23,000 euros. They also add that the figure will be valid until September 13, when the full specifications of the access version will be published.
Drivers who are part of this list will be rewarded with certain benefits: free recharges worth 350 euros the first year, free maintenance for the first three years or for the first 72,000 kilometers (whichever comes first) in the network of official MG workshops and a free three-phase Type 2 charging cable.
two versions
The MG4 Electric will have two versions, differentiated by their range and power level. The first is the access one, called the Standard Range, and his is the price less than 30,000 euros. It will be equipped with a 170 hp engine, which will be powered by a battery with a capacity of 51 kWh: it promises, according to the WLTP cycle, an autonomy of 350 kilometers.

For now, the British brand has not provided information on its price, although in the United Kingdom it has an additional cost of 2,500 pounds (2,970 euros, according to current exchange rates).
Cheaper than its competitors
Considering that the MG4 Electric is an electric compact, their direct rivals have reason to fear his arrival: Citroen ë-C4, Renault Megane E-Tech there Volkswagen ID.3 they are more expensive. And this is not the only aspect that makes the difference.
MG has set itself the goal of offering truly affordable electric cars: that’s why the MG4 Electric will cost less than €30,000. A number that stands out against the 33,945 euros of the Citroën ë-C4, the 36,600 euros of the Renault Mégane E-Tech and the 43,765 euros of the Volkswagen ID.3 Life. We are talking about differences of 3,394, 6,600 and 13,765 euros, respectively.
And all this taking into account that the MG4 Electric is More powerful than the Renault Mégane E-Tech (130 hp) and the Citroën ë-C4 (136 hp), but it does not reach the 204 hp of the Volkswagen ID.3. Regarding autonomy, your rank is lower than that of the ë-C4 (up to 357 kilometers) and ID.3 (415 kilometers) since the Mégane E-Tech remains at 300 kilometers. Will these weapons be enough to take the crown of their segment?
