The Board promotes ten new startups in the Community

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICE), works to develop competitiveness through its open innovation program Wolaria. To do this, it brought together two pillars of regional innovative entrepreneurship: start-ups and research groups with an entrepreneurial vocation. The former, coming from a new edition of the ICE Accelerator, one of the most consolidated programs of the Institute, and the latter, participants in a pioneering program in which work has been done to foster the commercial development of research projects incubated in the universities of Castile and Leon.

With their access to the accelerator, the ten startups have completed the first phase of a four-month acceleration campus-based working process where they worked collectively, and will begin a second phase of implementation. on a scale that spans five years, From then on, work is individual with each project in the areas of business, technology, finance, management, marketing and sales, networking and physical spaces and, above all, in the acceleration of the market and they will benefit from full support in the life of the project

Meanwhile, and as a reinforcement of WOLARIA Open Innovation, the strategic acceleration will be followed by growth in the market, hand in hand with the innovative concern of other companies and organizations in Castilla y León that will pose challenges and requirements.

On the other hand, and as an umbrella for business innovation, also through the transfer of knowledge, ICE has strengthened the framework of collaboration with the universities of the Community to highlight the arrival on the market of innovative solutions resulting from research groups. In this sense, work has been carried out on a training program with those responsible for university transfer in a methodology that allows to validate the technologies developed by researchers, to confront the business models of the market and to create new companies.

Currently, nine real projects are being carried out by research groups from the four universities in areas such as health, agrifood, energy and ICT.
