In the 21st century, the number of online services that help people book travel has increased dramatically. And with the idea of helping users manage and book their vacations more efficiently, Google created Google Travel. Google Travel is relatively underused, but it has a lot to offer. The web app lets you book flights, find destination inspiration, and more.
What is Google Travel?
Google Travel is an application that allows users book trips and manage itineraries. The Silicon Valley giant launched the service in 2016, but three years ago it changed its name to Google Travel from the original Google Trips of its debut.
Unlike other Google apps, including Drive and Docs, today we can’t download google travel as mobile app for smartphones. Instead, you’ll need to use it in your web browser. Of course, you can do it from your mobile, tablet or computer. Google Travel is free to use, but to use it you must have a Google Account.
There are several uses that you can give to Google Travel and we will see them below.
search for flights
Finding the flight that takes you to a desired destination is easy with Google Travel. When searching for flights, you can customize search using various parameters. These include possible origin and destination airports, the time you want to travel on all legs of the journey, the airlines you want to travel with or search for flights based on their baggage requirements.
To search for flights on Google Travel, you need to go to the “Flights” tab. Once you’re there, you can customize your search to suit your tastes.
Getting the best deal while traveling has become more complicated for a number of reasons. There are countless comparison websites out there, but it’s also hard to tell whether or not the prices you see are too high for the time of year you’re looking for. Google Travel helps you get better value for money with a few useful tools. The first is a small tab under “Best one-way flights”, which tells you whether or not the airfare is typical for the time period you want to travel.
You can also use the date grid and price table closer to the top of the screen. Both will show you how much the plane tickets cost for the period of your trip compared to nearby days.
In addition to the above features, you can also enable the “Follow prices” option. If you opt for this, you will receive email updates whenever prices go up or down. You can access all of these tools from the “Flights” tab.
Inspiration and settings
For many people, booking every part of their trip best meets their needs. If you’re one of those people, you’ll be happy to know that Google Travel lets you select multiple options to ensure your search results are more relevant to your inquiries.
you can create better trips thanks to the “Interests” functionwhich allows you to choose destinations based on the type of vacation you want.
Another way to personalize your trip is to decide how you want to travel. Google Travel lets you choose between flying or driving, and you can make that choice by going to the ‘Travel Mode’ tab, which is also under ‘Explore’.
Once you’re ready to plan your trip, you can use Google Travel to create the ultimate itinerary. When you start a vacation project on the platform, you can add flights to places you want to eat.
If you book your flights and accommodation through Google Travel, confirmations will be added to your itinerary.
In addition to adding your plans, you can also use this section to find out about your destination. Google shows you the most frequently asked questions, along with the average temperatures for the time of year you’ll be visiting the destinations.
To add a new trip, go to the ‘Trip’ tab and select ‘Create trip’.
As with flights, you can also book hotels through Google Travel. When searching for hotels, you can filter your search based on price and the number of people included in the trip. If you prefer certain hotel chains over others, you can choose to display only your preferred options.
Other ways to filter your hotel search relate to the hotel’s included offers, services such as Wi-Fi, or the hotel’s star rating. You can also use this feature to book hostels and bed and breakfasts.
To start booking your accommodation, you will need to go to the ‘Hotels’ tab. When you are there, you can customize it according to your needs.
Properties for rent
If you are not interested in a hotel stay, you can find Holiday rents through Google Travel. You will see several options, such as apartments, aparthotels, chalets. As in the case of hotels, you can also search for the services you want or their price range.
To rent properties instead of hotels, click on the ‘Holiday Rentals’ section. From there, you can search for any non-hotel accommodations that you deem appropriate.
