After a wonderful season at Brighton, for his first season in the Premier League, Cucurella signs for a “bigsix” which takes a leap in quality at 24 years old. Last season, he played a total of 38 games, scoring once and providing two assists. His reliability and speed down the flank were essential for the team which had a spectacular season, finishing ninth in the standings.
Brighton Round Company
The English club took over the Catalan player by paying the clause he had with Getafe, a club where he stood out for two seasons by taking the southern team from Madrid to Europe. His seasons as an azulón made Brighton bet on the path, who spent 18 million euros last year, nothing comparable to the price paid by the chelsea. A season later, and after having signed a good year, the man from Alella leaves for the London club for 65 million, rising to 73 million if the variables are respected.
The Brighton achieved one of the best deals for a player in recent times, securing a return of nearly €50m per player, a masterpiece from the sporting director. Cucurella now faces the biggest challenge of his career, playing for a Champions League side. Thomas Tuchelhis new coach, in love with the three-way defense, can be a great teacher for the Catalan, who has a wonderful opportunity to win in one of the best clubs in the world.
