The ace royal family vacation in Palma de Mallorca are about to end. A vacation that this year should be shorter than usual given that on Sunday King Felipe travels to Colombia to attend the events on the occasion of the presidential alternation in the country. An important event on the agenda of the monarch who, since he was Prince of Asturias, has assumed this type of commitment to represent Spain in Latin American countries.

It has not yet been confirmed if after this trip the King plans to return to Marivent and if the Queen and her daughters will stay there in the meantime. However, everything suggests that this will not be the case. And it is that this year the royal family has less than three weeks to be together and private, on their first vacation out of public view since the outbreak of the pandemic.
As usual, details of what these private vacation days will look like are not known, but we do know when they will end. If last year the Princess Leonor joined the class on August 30 on this occasion the heiress will have to return to Wales several days before.

As confirmed by the center in which studies the eldest daughter of kings international baccalaureate, Atlantic College in Wales, sophomores start classes on Friday August 26, four days before freshmen who, like last year, are admitted on the 30th. This means that the Kings’ private holidays and their daughters must be completed by August 26, as Leonor must be in Wales that day. Something that also applies to the case of the princess Alexia from Holland, who shares a class with Leonor. However, it is known that on one specific occasion, Alexia delayed her entry to school due to official commitments, a situation which did not occur in the case of the Princess Eleanor.

Last year, the Household of HM the King released a series of images of the Princess as she left Madrid and arrived in Wales. These are the only photographs that have been seen of Leonor in this new stage although, given that the circumstances are different this year and that there are no restrictions, it would be possible that the king and queen and the Infanta Sofía accompany Leonor to Wales, just as a few months ago there was news of a punctual visit for the King’s birthday.

This year is particularly important for the Princess of Asturias ever since he graduated from high school and doubts arose as to his next steps. On the one hand, one of the questions on the table is when will swear to the Constitution -already in the fall of 2023, when he will reach his majority-, but doubts are also expressed about his university career or his military training. However, now is just the time to enjoy a well-deserved private family vacation like the ones of yore. Time will decide the future.
