Wait, don’t change processors, there is already a date for the new AMD

It is well known that many manufacturers wait until after the summer to present their novelties. AMD, during the shareholder call, informed of the upcoming launch of the Ryzen 7000 processors. Not only that, the company also said that before the end of the year, it plans to present the RX 7000 series graphics cards.

For weeks there have been a lot of rumors about the company’s new processors and graphics cards. This new product line will be based on TSMC’s new 5nm process. For practical reasons, it is expected that a huge jump in performance will be achieved in these new solutions.

AMD Ryzen 7000 will bring support for DDR5 and more

There has been a “war” between AMD and Intel for years to be the main processor manufacturer. Intel has struggled in recent years, being stuck in the 14nm process for a long time. To get out of this impasse, they chose to develop a system of heterogeneous cores, something similar to the design of ARM processors.

Above new Ryzen 7000 processors Very little is known at this time. The code name for this family is Zen4 and we also know that they will be based on the 5nm process. For now, we can say that it is indeed confirmed by AMD.

Although the company hasn’t fully confirmed this, we do know other things. These processors, like the current Intel Alder Lake, will support DDR4 and DDR5 RAM. It will be the manufacturer of the motherboard who will decide on the type of memories which will be used in the system. We also know for sure that will support PCIe 5.0, but we don’t know how many, it is assumed that there would be at least 4 rows for M.2 NVMe SSDs.

AMD’s new Ryzen 7000s require a motherboard change, since they will use the new AM5 socket. This new socket is needed because support for DDR5 RAM is added. The addition of this technology represents a big change in the design of the company’s processors.

We do not know at this time if all processors will use the 3D cache technology that they developed or only some. We are also not aware of any other improvements that could have been made to this architecture.

Planned Release Dates

AMD has so far only indicated one version before during the third quarter of 2022, without specifying further. Rumors indicate that could be launched on September 15 or close to that date, so they can arrive in September. There is also talk that they could arrive between September 22 and December 22, which is the fall period that is being caught up in the United States.

There are a few more doubts regarding the RX 7000 graphics cards based on the RDNA3 architecture. Currently at AMD they are concerned about the excess stock that currently exists of graphics cards. During the shareholder call, they specified that these new graphics should be published by the end of the year.

Intel is also expected to introduce the new Raptor Lake processors between September and December, a redesign of the current Alder Lake. NVIDIA, for its part, should start launching the new RTX 40 Series graphics cards in the same period. It will therefore be a very busy period with many new features.
