Hand in hand with KIA, we went to Stockholm to test the KIA EV6 GT, the new 100% electric crossover that marks the beginning of a new era and lays the foundations for the future, since it presents itself no more no less than an engine that develops 585 hp and 740 Nm, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 260 km/h. This KIA is currently the most powerful car from the South Korean brand.
It is fully electric and is equipped with a long-range lithium-ion polymer battery with a capacity of 77.4 kWh and a combined consumption of 22.7 kWh/100 km. It can be charged from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes if we access a compatible charger.
During our test drive on Swedish roads, first on the circuit and then on the street, we were able to verify how maneuverable and versatile the car is, because if you want fun combined with pure adrenaline, you don’t have to just have to activate the little green GT button on the right side of the steering wheel and it becomes a rocket, yes, you will have to be careful with the more than 2.0 kg of weight, which KIA has been able to counterbalance with good brake discs entirely in aluminum by 380 mm at the front and 360 mm at the rear, thus reducing the weight slightly.
Kia offered us three combined exercises on the circuit to test the EV6 GT, consisting of an acceleration test where we literally remained glued to the seat, another DRIFT test, where we all wanted to repeat without stop, and it is that GT has the Drift Mode which transmits all the motor skills to the rear axle which allows skidding and donuts in a very simple way, and finally free driving on the circuit where we have been able to “tighten” the car at most.
Once on the road, we see how it can also be a silent car, with which we can drive daily in a very comfortable way, since it has several driving modes ECO, Normal, My Drive, where we can manually adjust the parameters of the car to our liking and the already mentioned GT mode, where brakes, differential, power delivery, suspension and ESC are set sportier. It is true that if you live or pass through Sweden, you will have to go to a circuit or simply not activate the GT mode, because there the rules of the road are respected and very strict, and it seems that he is quite strict when it comes to punishing offenders, and of course, with this beastly KIA… we didn’t want fines!
As for its design, highlight its 21-inch wheels, rear spoiler and new diffusers; in addition to the black-tinted door frame and unique taillights. All this gives it a very sporty and muscular exterior appearance which makes it a very striking and joyful car to behold.
Inside, everything seems geared towards the driver, with a widescreen control panel and an ergonomic two-spoke steering wheel; Individual seats are
covered in suede and designed with premium materials and sports-inspired touches for support and comfort.
This KIA pleasantly surprised us in all its aspects: design, handling, autonomy, price… and it was voted car of the year for a reason, so CONGRATULATIONS KIA.
