Osasuna finds its identity against Feyenoord: improvement and victory

Osasuna said goodbye to the Dutch tour yesterday with a stunning victory against Feyenoord. A 90th-minute goal from Kike Barja made it 2-1 on the scoreboard to equalise. The match, played at Stadion Feijenoord behind closed doors, showed some reds wanting to attack and press. There has been a noticeable improvement in the squad compared to this Saturday’s game against Groningen.

The Berriatua coach’s XI – in which not a single player from Saturday’s game was repeated – started well in advance, continuously hovering around the Feyenoord area. Despite attempts to generate chances from both teams, neither managed to materialize in front of goal.

The first of the match was held by Osasuna’s new signing Moi Gómez. Alicante took advantage of an erroneous pass from the Dutch defense to fire a shot that went beyond the effort of the right post. Three minutes later, it was one of the game’s clearest chances that Kike García failed to seize to put the team ahead. Roberto Torres sent a deep ball to Areso, he put it in the box and Kike only had to push it, but the Cuencan fell to the ground and wasted the chance to get ahead at the Stadion Feijenoord.

The Dutch woke up from those scares and put Aitor Fernández to the test twice, but the Mondragón keeper was very confident under the sticks.

If the Arrasate side stood out for anything, it was because of the unrelenting pressure they put on the Dutch defence, pressure which led to several failures for Feyenoord. Most notable was the error of goalkeeper Bijlow, who smashed the ball against his own post with a bad pass.

The first goal of the match came from the hand of Roberto Torres in the 30th minute of the game. That of Arre showed his cunning by shooting at goal on a free kick 30 meters from goal, an action which dislodged the 21 other players, including the goalkeeper, who could not stop the cannon shot.

The second half started in a similar vein, with Osasuna pressing and stymiing Feyenoord. Kike García once again had a great chance after a defense blunder with a pass that did not find a recipient. The Cuenca man grabbed the ball, but smashed it into Bijlow’s goal post.

The rojillos continued to have chances, but yesterday was not the best day for Jagoba’s men in front of goal. Kike García had another in the 62nd that went high and Chimy Ávila forgave one-on-one shooting the doll with ten minutes remaining.

In the final stages of the match, the rojillos were clueless in attack, unlike the Dutch, who pressed more and more until they equalized the match at minute 88 after a ball from Pereira at the penalty spot that allowed Bassett to put it. at the bottom of the net.

After forgiving several times, Osasuna saw victory slip away after being up front for more than half a game. However, the Navarrese did not want to leave the light in the tables. With seconds remaining, youth team player Aimar Oroz placed a slicked through ball on the defense that left Areso in front of the goalkeeper, who only had to make a killer pass for Kike Barja to make a pass in the net and thus put the 2-1 in the light and hurt the game.

In this friendly match we could see an Osasuna wanting to go on the offensive and with very good intentions, even if he is not very efficient in front of goal, which almost made the victory slip away. Jagoba students won’t have any respite, so this morning they have a session in Tajonar to prepare for next Friday’s two friendly matches against Burgos (Tajonar, 11:30 a.m.) and Mirandés (Anduva, 7:00 p.m.).
