Ion Aramendi faces a new professional project. After two years as the main face of TVE, presenting both ‘The hunter’ as ‘The Dancer’ oh ‘Better With You’the communicator returns to make the leap to Telecinco. However, in this way, Aramendi returns to what has been his home for seven years as a reporter for ‘Save me’. Despite this, he is currently a presenter on ‘Survivors’ and hosts the “Honduras Connection” gala on Friday. Thus, in just a few months, has become one of the legendary faces of the Mediaset channel.
The communicator will always have excellent memories of his first stage as a reporter for “Sálvame”, since he recognizes that it changed his life. “When I arrived, I didn’t even know it was for Save Me. I’m not a journalist by profession, I don’t know why I studied this career, but when they called me, I made some parody videos, mobilized my family and colleagues to vote for me and I came thirdand they took me on as a reporter”, he recalled in an interview for ‘Ten Minutes’.
“I lost my fear of the camera, I learned to tell the story you want to tell in a minute and a half, to know how to react when Jorge puts you in a delicate situation”recognizes Aramendi, highlighting the stage in which he was part of the team of ‘La Fábrica de la Tele’, specifically between 2009 and 2016. That is why he dedicated some kind words to the format: “They are super-professionals. You learn everything, that’s why it’s a great school where many professionals are trained.”
“I found it difficult to ask them questions about their lives”
Despite this, the communicator acknowledges having also experienced some unpleasant situations: “And you also find yourself in unpleasant situations when you go out on the street.” On this subject, Aramendi points out how difficult it is to speak on the microphone to certain famous personalities of the laughing press. In fact, he approached some with fear.
“Every time I tried to approach Cayetano Martínez de Irujo it generated a lot of tension in me, because as soon as I asked him a question about Genoveva [Casanova] or the Duchess of Alba was rude to me and it was very unpleasant”, confessed about it. “It was very difficult for me to ask them questions about their lives, more so if it was about infidelity,” he admits, pointing out the complicated part of his job as a reporter.
As a result, after an exceptional career as a presenter for ETB and TVE, he says he is very happy with the new opportunity that Mediaset has given him: “I am delighted with the work I do at Telecinco, with the love I receive from my former colleagues. I hope to be here for a long time. In fact, he reveals that he can’t stand those who “look over his shoulder when he tells them” that he works in spaces like “Survivors”. “When they do it with superiority, it seems like a pose to me,” defend.
“I always defend journalism with my heart, it’s very professional. And, in the case of Save Me, you don’t know the work that is done behind the cameras, in the newsroom, on the street. Filling four hours a day with content is amazing work and I’m sorry it’s not valued.” assures the journalist.
