Two members of pop group mirror were injured on Thursday after a giant screen in the Hong Kong Colosseum fell on stage during a concert, reports the Hong Kong daily South China Morning Post.
At least two dancers from Mirror, Hong Kong’s most popular boy band, have been touched by the big screen, which hit directly on the head of one of them.
According to the police of the former British colony, quoted by the newspaper, two dancers, who remain conscious, were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The concert stopped after the accident and the band’s manager, Ahfa Wong Wai-kwan, apologized to the audience, asking them to leave the venue in an orderly fashion.
It was the fourth consecutive concert which Mirror held at the Coliseum, where they planned to offer 12 performances. “Everything happened very quickly and everyone needed a few moments to understand what had happened”explained an assistant at the concert, quoted by the newspaper.

Footage of the incident circulating on social media shows a group of dancers dressed in white performing on stage at the Hong Kong Coliseum. when a giant screen fell on a person. The screen then collapsed on other people before the other performers rushed in to help.
Around midnight, the city’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital said a man injured in the neck was in serious condition, while another was in stable condition following a head injury, as reported by local media.

The Hong Kong government has suspended Mirror concerts until that the structure of the scene turns out to be safe, said Culture, Sports and Tourism Secretary Kevin Yeung.
Hong Kong leader John Lee was shocked by the incident and ordered a full investigation to assess the security requirements of similar broadcasts in order to “ensuring the safety of artists, staff and the public.”

Last year, Mirror have become the most popular Cantonese pop group and are credited with revitalizing Hong Kong’s local music scene. The latest series of concerts by the 12 musicians, originally scheduled for July 25 to August 6 at the prestigious Coliseum, was eagerly awaited by fans and quickly sold out.
