The creation of Instagram Reels is now easier than ever after Meta, in another attempt to stop the rise of ICT Tac, added new features. With a hint of desperation, Instagram has announced that in the coming weeks almost all videos uploaded will become Reels as well as the arrival of default templates.
Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, shared the new changes coming to the platform. Perhaps most importantly, virtually all publicly shared videos will now be considered reels. Whether you like it or not. The only way to avoid this is to make the account in question private.

“In the coming weeks, new video posts under 15 minutes will be shared as Reels. Videos posted before this change will remain videos and will not become Reels,” Instagram said on its official website.
This short video format has been one of Instagram’s biggest hits of late – and TikTok’s recipe for success – so Meta’s social network will turn any video shared by its users into a reel. Since Reels provides a more immersive and entertaining way to view and create videos on Instagram, we also bring these creative tools and the full-screen experience to your video posts.

New creative tools
As if this change wasn’t enough, Mosseri also announced other new features in the form of templates and even a new feature called Dual, which lets you use both the rear and front cameras of the phone to create content.
New templates for Reels make it easier to create vertical videos by preloading placeholders and audio clips. So all you need to do is add your own photos or videos to the existing and popular Reels formats. You can find template ideas by tapping the camera icon in the Reels tab.

In addition, the new Dual function allows users to simultaneously record content and user reaction. To do this, users will be able to record using their front and back cameras at the same time.
Remix improvements
There’s no doubt that Instagram has been copying TikTok for a while. On the Chinese social network you can duet with other videos and from 2021 you can do the same on Instagram thanks to Remix, a tool that splits the screen in two.

This well-known function also receives a facelift since Instagram will allow to make a photo duo while with Expanded Remix it offers the possibility of having a green screen, as well as a horizontal and vertical split screen for recording.

But it is that in addition, another new function will allow you to add your recording after the original clip so that it is played sequentially instead of the two contents appearing simultaneously as happens in TikTok.
Instagram, the new TikTok
Meta’s platform has a clear aspiration: to be as similar to TikTok as possible. The developers have been working for months to make Instagram, with changes here and there, look as much like the Chinese short-video social network as possible.
Reels seem to have increased usage of the app while Instagram Stories remains one of the main attractions of the platform. So the short vertical videos are gradually becoming in the direction of Instagram: even the algorithm has been touched so that the original content has more audience than the rest.
