Amazon officially inaugurated this Monday its new logistics center in the municipality of Wave (Spanish). The event was attended by the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puigand Onda Mayor Carmina Ballester.
Fred Pattjedirector of Amazon Customer Fulfillment in France, Italy and Spain, visited the facilities, built on a plot of more than 58,000 square metersequivalent to eight football pitches.
Strategic point for your operations in Spain
With more than 130,000 square meters dedicated to storagethis logistics center will support the first mile operations from Amazon in our country. It will be used to store and manage up to four million units big products.
As Fred Pattje explained, they are “delighted” to be in Onda, in a region that has become strategic point for the company’s operations in Spain. “Furthermore, we are particularly proud job creation with main advantages in the sector, such as private medical insurance and a pension plan, opportunities for career development,” he acknowledged.
In this regard, he pointed out that the firm offers all kinds of work for all kinds of people, from those starting their careers to those with a doctorate; from those who have just graduated to people with decades of experience. The new center will generate 500 permanent jobs.
It features dozens of different roles, including engineersoperations managers, financial analystshandlers, profiles technological or specialists in human resources and safety and health.
Amazon has a long relationship with the Valencian Community, since the opening in 2017 of the company’s first logistics station in paternal. Since then, the company has opened two other logistics stations, Alicante and Picassentas well as a center Amazon fees in Valencia.
1,500 Valencian SMEs sell on Amazon
As Fred Pattje pointed out, they are 1,500 Valencian SMEs that sell on Amazon, exceeding in 2020 the 100 million euros in international sales.
The mayor of Onda pointed out that the city council is working to apply a “helpful” policyally of entrepreneurship and innovation, competitiveness and leadership, excellence and quality” because these ingredients “are synonymous with employment and therefore better economic and social opportunities for Ondenses and Castellonians”.
“We showed, and today we have the best examplethat an effective public-private collaboration can bring good news to our province”, he added. For his part, Puig assured that the community generates “confidence and stability” as key elements to attract investments large companies.
The head of the Consell pointed out that the new facilities of this company are the most extensive and highlighted thetractor effect” of the new focus on Valencian companies that sell their products on Amazon.

Puig reiterated his commitment to a “new industry based on knowledge“, with the impetus of “the best technological university in Spain, with a technological and training ecosystem state-of-the-art and with skilled workers”.
He appreciated that the Onda logistics center contributes to the “reborn of a powerful sector of industry such as The apartment“, which was considered to be”logistics golden triangle transport goods” thanks to the links to the north with the airport, the motorway, the port and the Mediterranean corridor, via the future intermodal station, and to the south with Sagunto Park, its port, its future station and the Cantabrian and Mediterranean corridors.
