– Zymo Research’s DNA/RNA Shield™ inactivates monkeypox for sample collection and transport
IRVINE, Calif., July 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Zymo Research Corp., in collaboration with the Institute of Virology at the University Medical Center Freiburg, Germany, has demonstrated data showing that its DNA/RNA Shield™ (ITM) inactivating transport medium completely inactivated recent monkeypox virus isolates.\
These data come at a critical time, as cases of monkeypox continue to rise worldwide and scientists search for methods to safely collect and transport samples without compromising genetic integrity. Screening for monkeypox is mainly done by PCR from a lesion taken with a swab.
