Transparencies, lights and straight edges
The the design is undoubtedly the great asset Nothing Telephone (1). A simple view, look at a great resemblance with the latest iPhone models: the aluminum edges –100% recycled– are straightand the rows for the antennae, buttons, and ports are positioned in nearly identical areas to those on the iPhone.
In addition, the screen, AMOLED of 6.55 inches, is surrounded by symmetrical bevels from all angles.
This is a large devicewhich due to the marked angles of its aluminum edges, can be somewhat uncomfortable to use for long periods of timeespecially if held and operated with one hand.

What is really striking is at the rear: following the line of its first product, the Nothing Phone (1) features a clear Gorilla Glass 5 back panel, which reveals the “inside” of the device. Interior which is actually covered with a trim composed of different elements –more than 400, depending on the brand–.
Also on the back is the “Glyph Interface”, a series of LED strips that They light up in certain situations, such as when receiving a notification or a call, when charging the mobile or using the reverse wireless charging system.
The Glyph interface can be install disable it completely.
Since the great asset of the device at the aesthetic level is in its back, putting a protective cover on it is a bit of an offense for telephone designers (1). For this reason, Nothing sells next to the device. a protective TPU case which allows viewing the back of the device, while its glass and aluminum body is fully protected.

The Nothing Phone (1) can be purchased in two colors: black and white. In our case, we received the black color versionwhich is actually more of a kind of “Space Grey”.
NothingOS stands out for its great resemblance to “stock” Android
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor integrated into the Nothing Phone (1) takes care of giving life to Android 12personalized by NothingOS 1.0.
When it came to developing its own personalization layer, Nothing seems to have not wanted to complicate its life: the look of the software is identical to what one would find on a Google Pixelwith the Material You interface as the main protagonist, including the possibility of generate custom themes based on wallpaper colors.
In the absence of more exhaustive evidence, the truth is that NothingOS promises to be one of the layers closest to android Stock whom we are going to meet today. Yet another draw, aside from the design, that might appeal to those looking for a simple Android experience.
In this sense, it is worth mentioning that Nothing promises three years of operating system updates, and four years of security updates. However, the latter will be released every month.
